Proposition 73 Failed!
I can't believe that! It's ridiculous! Prop 73 (for the CA special election) was for parental notification of abortions for girls under 18. We're not talking consent here, just notification and it was struck down. I mean do parents actually want their daughters to undergo a risky medical procedure without their knowing it? It just violates all common sense.
A woman's choice is one thing, because she's an adult. But with kids? A doctor is always supposed to tell the parents about anything that involves their child's health. Why should abortion be any different?
(EDIT) What's even more unbelieveable is the No on Prop 73 website listed below. This slogan is "Their safety, our responsibility." Exactly. So how can the parents be responsible if they aren't allowed to know about it? And then they have the other slogan "If she can't come to me, I just want to keep her safe." Uh, since when do parents trust their child's safety to strangers anyway?
